It was a beautiful July 4th weekend this year. In the morning, we took the kids to the local farmer's market and J insisted on wearing his froggy rain boots that are about 2 sizes too big. Everyone there thought he was adorable and commented on his great choice in footwear.
We spent a lot of time playing in the backyard and had my friend Jen over for a grillout. It was nice to catch up with her - it's been too long. We kept telling Jake about the fireworks and he kept asking if there would be marshmallows. In J's world, if there's "fire," there are supposed to be marshmallows. I wasn't feeling too well, so V and I stayed back while everyone went to the Mason fireworks display. The kids loved it, but C actually fell asleep through part of it, which I find amazing. Those things are loud! We are very fortunate that our community puts on such a great show every year, because our attempt at some family-friendly fireworks was just a bunch of smoke - literally.
